Vinícius Victorazzi Lain
Vascular surgeon
Vinícius Lain is a vascular surgeon. He occupies a rare position in Brazilian healthcare: that of someone who practices surgery with mastery while possessing a command of technology that few physicians share. It was on the front line, with his hands inside the human body, that he learned to respect everything technology is still unable to replace.
As president of Instituto Hélice, the first innovation hub in Rio Grande do Sul, he began asking the question that gave rise to this book: how can innovation be placed at the service of care, rather than the other way around? Leading an ecosystem that connects science, entrepreneurship, and healthcare, he experiences daily the distance between technology's promise and its actual delivery at the bedside.
It is this dual perspective, that of the physician who heals and the innovator who helps build the future, that makes him one of the most authoritative voices on artificial intelligence in healthcare.
