It's Not About Artificial Intelligence
A manifesto chapter: the problem is system and time design, not technology; operating room and bed management.
In the tone of a manifesto, this chapter argues for a shift in perspective: many of healthcare's biggest bottlenecks are not technology problems but problems of system design and time management. Using examples from operating room management and bed occupancy, the authors show how optimizing schedules, queues and internal flows can have more impact than any sophisticated algorithm on its own, and that AI delivers real value only when applied within well-designed processes, never as a patch over a poorly organized operation.
